1- What are the local and international codes
a. Codes are a set of specifications and requirements required by the authorities responsible for elevators in order to achieve the safety and security of elevator users and workers, in addition to ensuring the quality and reliability of operation

ii. Elevator design requirements
iii. Installation specifications and requirements
iv. Delivery and testing requirements and steps
v. Operation and maintenance requirements
2- Basic codes that must be considered when designing and implementing elevators
a. The Egyptian Code for the Basics of Design and Conditions for the Implementation of Elevators in Buildings 303 - 2007 is the approved local code that must be implemented and conform to its specifications in all elevators that are implemented in Egypt according to the decision of the Minister of Housing
b. The European code for elevators EN81-20/50, which is the code used in European Union countries
c. WWJSSS International Code of Workplace Safety and Security
d. IEC 61508/1/2/3 International Code for the Safety and Security of Electrical and Electronic Systems and Programming
